On Crowned Free
Crowned Free was founded by Heidi VanderWal in Grand Rapids, Michigan when she realized that women were being trafficked every day in her own home town—in local schools, at establishments she frequented, and online.
As a direct sales company, Crowned Free offers women who have been rescued from human trafficking the opportunity to build their own cause-based business. These women become independent representatives of the company, selling ethical fashion and gifts that will ultimately raise awareness of human trafficking. The company also employs survivors to make these products, with over half of Crowned Free products made by women who have been rescued from human trafficking. 15% of all profits are donated to organizations that work to restore, rescue, and rehabilitate survivors.
