Village Artisan
Village Artisan is a fair trade company in northern India that prevents poverty, human trafficking, and work exploitation through dignified work and fair wages.
On Village Artisan
Village Artisan began 20 years ago with the hope to provide safe, dignifying, and fair work to a community in deep need. Since then, their artisan community has grown to nearly 100 makers, some of them mothers who are able to craft their pieces from home. This opportunity allows their employees to go from dependence on aid to a self-sustaining livelihood, creating a ripple effect on their own community. The money earned from Village Artisan often goes toward life-sustaining necessities like water pumps, medical care, improved hygiene, and infrastructure.
The company provides skills training to men and women with few opportunities and education for children through their school sponsorship program. All materials are 100% eco-friendly and made from a range of natural and recycled materials.
