The Embera Bead Project
The Embera Bead Project helps the displaced Embera community in Medellín, Colombia, sustain itself and addresses the broader challenges of urban adaptation.
On The Embera Bead Project
Since 2020, The Embera Bead Project has aimed to improve the lives of the displaced Embera people who have relocated to Medellín, Colombia. Facing significant challenges in adapting from their rural, traditional homes to urban life, the Embera people struggle with language barriers and employment opportunities.
With a rich cultural heritage of intricate beadwork, The Embera Bead Project creates sustainable support programs such as educational assistance for children, adult personal development, fair wage workshops, and special initiatives for mothers. Additionally, the project offers sanitation and medical campaigns to help the Embera build stable and thriving lives in their new environment.
